Project Description

CAST IRON FLANGED SWING CHECK VALVE PN16

CAST IRON FLANGED SWING CHECK VALVE

This valve is particularly indicated for the non-return of fluids that could cause dezincification problems. It is also suitable for use in marine fields and other aggressive environments. Other excellent fields of application are in engineering plumbing and heating plant, industry and shipbuilding.

AVAILABLE MODELS
465: Flanged

FIELD OF APPLICATION
• Industrial plants
• Sewage Water
• Water treatment
• Air-conditioning systems (HVAC)
• Central heating and cooling circuits
• Non-aggressive fluids
• Tanks
• Sprinkler Booster Pumps systems

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS
• Manufactured in Italy in accordance with EN 12334
• Face-to-face length according to EN 558-1, basic series 48
• Flanged according to EN 1092-2 PN16
• Horizontal or vertical installation (flow upwards)
• Flow direction indicated by the arrow on the body
• Minimal pressure drop
• Hydrostatically tested according to EN 12266-1: Test type P11-P12 Rate A
• Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/UE art. 13 Group 2
• 100% full bore
• Swing check valves are mono-directional and act automatically the function to stop the return flow of the
fluid, without manual action.

OPERATION
Swing check valves are monodirectional devices, allowing the backflow prevention of fluid under pressure. The inner hydraulic seal is obtained through the forces exerted by the body of a swinging obturator and by the fluid pressure against a gasket which guarantees the seal even at very low back pressures. The advantage of these valves is the low head loss thanks to the body round shape and the big bore obtained from the swinging movement of the obturator; these features make these valves also work silently.

INSTALLATION

  1. Handle with care.
  2. Place the valve between the flanges of the pipe and install the seal between the pipe and valve flanges. Check that the seals have been positioned correctly. The distance between the counter flanges must be equal to the valve’s face to face distance. Do not use bolts of the counter flanges to bring the piping
close to the valve. The bolts should be cross tightened.
  3. Do not weld the flanges to the piping after installing the valve.
  4. Water hammers might cause damage and ruptures. Inclination, twisting and misalignments of the piping may subject the installed valve to excessive stresses. It is recommended that elastic joints be used in order to reduce such effects as much as possible.
  5. When in the open position, some valves have a larger dimension than the nominal face to face value. A suitable distance should be allowed for when assembling, in order to prevent damage or malfunctioning.
  6. This valve is unidirectional: install in accordance with the flow direction arrow indicated on the body.

DISPOSAL
For valve operating with hazardous liquids(toxic, corrosive…), if there is a possibility of residue remaining in the valve, take due safety precaution and carry out required cleaning operation. Personnel in charge must be trained and equipped with appropriate protection devices. Prior to disposal, disassemble the valve and separate the component according to various materials. Please refer to product literature for more information. Forward sorted material to recycling (e.g. metallic materials) or dispose it, according to local and currently valid legislation taking into consideration the environment.
